While you cannot send money directly to any business entity—nor pay for international travel and related purposes—you can send for:

• Overseas higher education(e.g. tuition fees and living expenses for college/universities)
• Overseas healthcare or medical treatment.
• Family remittance by foreign nationals to home countries abroad.

You can send money from Bangladesh to any individual overseas. Simply provide your receiver's full name and (if sending to a bank account) their bank account number, bank name, and bank routing number.

Bangladeshi nationals can send money to a:

• Student studying abroad
• Bangladeshi residing abroad for medical treatment

Expatriates with a valid work permit can send money to a:

• Family member in their home country

Your Bank Asia Limited Bank Account will be debited in BDT as per the conversion rate set by Western Union for executing your money transfer instruction for destination country. Your receiver will get the money in their country’s currency.

Bangladeshi nationals can send as per the invoice from the University Student Tuition Fees and relevant living cost. They can also pay for medical bills as per the medical institution invoice and relevant living cost.

Foreign Expatriates are allowed to remit upto 80% earnings after tax for family maintenance and remaining 20% is allowed only after the settlement of yearly income tax payment, supported by tax certificate issued by the tax authority.

You can send any amount for a flat Tk.500/- transfer fee¹ until 30June 2022*.

Receivers will not pay any transfer fee. The one-time transfer fee will only be paid by the sender.

If your money transfer has not yet been paid, you can visit a Bank Asia branch and cancel the transaction.

1. Visit any of your nearest Bank Asia Authorized Dealer branch in order to open the student file. Only the eligible students are allowed to open Student files for enrolling in foreign colleges /universities for their higher studies purpose. Legal guardian of the student can act on his/her behalf.

2. What are the required documents for opening a student file:

• Offer Letter from the university referring the student's name and course duration.
• Estimates of tuition fees and living cost per year.
• Photocopy of the passport information page of applicant.
• Visa copy of the applicant
• Relevant previous educational certificates
• 2 photograph copies of applicants
• Duly filled bank account form by sponsoring a person who will maintain the file on behalf of the applicant
• For your second money transfer onwards, you will need to provide the previous semester's payment receipt, Result / transcript of previous semester &Invoice for tuition fee of new semester.

Note: Please submit any other documents if requested by the Branch officials.

By maintaining an expatriate file at any Bank Asia AD Branch expatriates are eligible to send money to their home country.

To open a file, you'll need to submit the following:

• Attested copy of the Employment contract duly approved by the BIDA or other relevant Govt. authority
• BIDA permission copy
• Salary Certificate from the employer
• Passport copy with valid visa
• Tax/TIN certificate
• Dully Fill-up and sign Bangladesh Bank prescribed Application
• TM form

1. A Bangladeshi national is eligible to send money to overseas hospital for availing medical treatment simply by visiting a nearest Bank Asia AD branch to open an account in this purpose. The account must either be opened by:

• The name of the patient who will avail the healthcare service abroad, or.
• The legal guardian of the patient who will act on behalf of patient’s interest

2. What are the required documents for opening a Medical file?

• Medical board recommendation.
• Dully Fill-up and sign Bangladesh Bank prescribed Application
• Cost estimation from foreign medical institutions that includes operation, medicines, consulting fee & boarding and lodging in Hospital/outside.
• Bank details of hospital.
• Duly filled bank account form by the applicant and legal guardian.
• Passport photocopy.
• Visa copy, etc.

As per the prevailing Bangladesh Government rules and regulations, any individuals who wants to send money for these purposes must maintain an account with the bank.

Unfortunately, you cannot go to a different location. For all money transfers, you (or your nominee) have to go to the same location wherein the account/file was opened.
